15 September 2000, Our Lady of Sorrows

Subject: Preparation Process for the Consecration of Virgins Living in the World, according to Canon 604

In response to a number of requests from dioceses around the country, the United States Association of Consecrated Virgins has put together this suggested Preparation Process document, which we hope will be a helpful resource as secular women prepare to receive the restored Rite of the Consecration of Virgins.

This document is the fruit of a collaborative effort by Vicars for Consecrated Life; canon lawyers; consecrated persons, including consecrated virgins themselves; and United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Episcopal Moderator for consecrated virgins, the Most Rev. Raymond L. Burke.

We hope this document will serve you as you carry out your responsibilities in the Church. If we in the USACV can be of assistance to clarify or to serve this process of preparation, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Sincerely yours in Christ Jesus,

[signed]

Loretta Matulich, President
