United States Association of Consecrated Virgins

2007 National Convocation

In Love with Christ and His Church

Theme:

The distinct bridal nature of our vocation which expresses itself both in the intimate personal love of the virgin for Christ, as well as her expression of that love to the world about her and to the Body of Christ.

We will also hear from one another in response to this question: “Canon 604 describes the consecrated virgin as one who is both mystically espoused to Christ and dedicated to the service of the Church, and the suggested homily of the Rite of Consecration of a Woman Living in the World states, “Never forget that you are given over entirely to the service of the Church and of all your brothers and sisters. You are apostles in the Church and in the World.” How do you personally live this out in your daily practical life experience?

Dates and Location:

August 8-12, 2007

National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, Illinois

(just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis)

Who is invited:

Women who have been consecrated according to the Rite for the Consecration of a Virgin Living in the World (Canon 604).

Those preparing for or discerning the vocation who have also previously attended an Information Conference are also warmly invited to attend.

The United States Association of Consecrated Virgins sponsors this annual convocation for all consecrated virgins regardless of membership in the Association.

Program

We are blessed again to welcome Archbishop Raymond Burke, Episcopal Moderator of the United States Association of Consecrated Virgins.

Archbishop Burke will explore this theme in light of the recent encyclical of Pope Benedict, Sacramentum Caritatis (The Sacrament of Charity On the Eucharist as the Source and Summit of the Church’s Life and Mission).
