Some dioceses in the United States have adopted the "Preparation Process" published by the USACV in 2000. The document is accessible below, but a candidate is advised to use its contents only at the direction of her Bishop or Bishop's delegate.

It is recommended that those virgins discerning a vocation to consecrated virginity lived in the world, those who have been accepted as candidates for the consecration, and newly consecrated virgins, attend an Information Conference sponsored by the USACV-IRC.

After careful discernment with her pastor and a spiritual director, a virgin who wishes to pursue a possible vocation to consecrated virginity lived in the world should contact her Bishop.
